Invest in Your Wellbeing

As many of us return from summer holidays and time off, it’s important to remember to look after our mental health as we ease back into work routines.
Breathe HR highlights that evidence shows negative workplace cultures can have a profound impact on people’s health. In fact, research from Mind suggests that poor mental health in the workplace costs the UK economy an astonishing £100 billion per year.
Read a few simple tips to help you take care of your well-being as you return to work.
Ease back in gently – Give yourself time to settle into your workload rather than rushing to catch up.
Set boundaries – Protect your work-life balance by logging off on time and taking proper breaks.
Stay connected – Talking with colleagues or friends can make the return feel less overwhelming.
Prioritise self-care – Whether it’s exercise, reading, or spending time with loved ones, make time for activities that recharge you.
Ask for support if you need it – Don’t hesitate to speak up if you’re struggling; most workplaces now have support structures in place.

Legal: Unfair Dismissal

An unfair dismissal case at Heathrow Airport has made headlines this month, after a long-serving security officer was awarded £44,000 at a tribunal.
The claimant, Jose Gomes, who had worked at Heathrow for 21 years, was dismissed after showing a colleague, Manoj Dadral, a video that Dadral described as “highly offensive and totally inappropriate.” Gomes was dismissed for breaching the company’s dignity at work policy.
While the tribunal acknowledged the video was inappropriate, it ruled that dismissal was a disproportionate response and therefore unfair.
We understand how complex and challenging dismissal cases can be. If you need any advice or support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us
